The Simple Way to Setup a T-Max 3APosted by Susan Gilbert in troubleshooting, tech, tanning bed, t-max |
When a T-Max 3A stops communicating with a bed, your tanning bed business can grind to a halt.
That’s why it’s important to know how to troubleshoot, reset and reprogram your equipment. So, if you’ve ever panicked once your T-Max 3A starts beeping at you or stops working, then keep reading for a comprehensive guide that will keep your T-Max operating and your business running.
Step 1 – Reset & Check
Often, resetting the power to both the 3A and the tanning bed will fix most problems. Just like rebooting a computer, sometimes a reset is all you need. Typically, a power surge or circuitry problem is the culprit and a simple power reset should fix it.
If resetting the power doesn’t fix the issue, then do a 360-degree check of the bed and the unit. Walk around and make sure the RJ-22 cables are securely plugged into the back of both the T-Max and the tanning bed. Run your hands along the length of the cable to check for damage or pinching. Finally, since T-Max cables are sensitive to outside interference, make sure they’re not running too closely to other electrical cords or overhead lights.
Step 2 – Reprogramming the T-Max
If you’ve reset and checked both your T-Max and the tanning bed, you may have to reprogram the addresses on the T-Max and the tanning bed. To reprogram the T-Max 3A, follow these steps;
Apply power to the 3-A.
Press and hold the start/stop and up buttons until a “.1” appears on the display. This typically takes between 5-6 seconds. Once the “.1” appears, let go of the buttons.
Press the start/stop button. A flashing number with a dot (e.g. 5.2) will appear, this is the factory default.
Press the up or down buttons to change the address of the bed. For example, if you want to set the 3-A to address “3” then set the unit to “.3”. The highest address the 3-A will go to is 254.
Press the start/stop button to exit address mode.
To exit the parameters setting mode, hold the up and down buttons simultaneously.
NOTE: To set the address on your tanning bed, you will need to check the individual bed’s manual. Some beds’ settings will depend on what version of 3-A you have. To determine your 3-A unit’s version, unplug the timer unit and then plug it back in. Once plugged back in, three numbers will flash on the display. The first number that flashes is the version number. Alternatively, you can look at the chip on the back of the unit.
