Protecting Your Tanning Equipment During Storms
With
the recent storms nationwide, there have been several power outages,
power surges and even some flooding. As a friendly reminder, it’s
always important to turn the power off on your tanning equipment when
strong storms are predicted or present.
Just taking the time to turn off the breaker and/or the disconnect in
the tanning room (if you use one), can save your tanning bed from being
hit by a power spike causing damage to your tanning bed components.
Please keep in mind that there is 220v of power being wired into the
ballast tray underneath your tanning bed and be very cautious if (or
when) water is surrounding the tanning bed as electric shock can occur.
If you are unfortunate enough to experience flood waters, please be
sure to completely dry out your tanning bed components prior to
attempting to apply power. In most cases, you will need to replace all
of the components in the ballast tray as they will begin to corrode and
rust from the water.
I realize that this may seem very obvious to most. However, it is
crucial to make a point of telling people the importance of playing it
safe with their tanning equipment. Hopefully, we can all get through
the storms without any damage.
