Mocha Tan, located at 904 Riverside Blvd., Suite B, in Norfolk, offers a wide variety of tanning options for clients to pamper themselves and enjoy the “true tanning experience,” said co-owner Scott Ellenwood.

Ellenwood and wife Mellisa opened Mocha Tan with a love of the Norfolk community in mind. 

“Norfolk is a great community — we’ve owned our home here for seven years,” Ellenwood said. “We wanted to open an elegant tanning salon that offers the best in customer service and takes care of all of our clients’ needs.” 

Excellent customer service is one of the reasons the Ellenwoods chose to work with Indianapolis-based ETS Tan, the global leader in manufacturing and distributing indoor tanning beds.  

“We chose to feature ETS Tan beds because of the selection we had to choose from and the high-tech features of the beds,” Ellenwood said. “ETS also gave us great customer service — something that is very important to us as customers and business owners.” 

Mocha Tan carries a full line of tanning beds manufactured by ETS Tan, including the Sunvision Elite, SunStar 432, StarPower 548 and SunDome 548V. These beds are powered by Wolff® system lamps and have advanced after-tan cooling systems. 

“Our clients like everything about ETS Tan’s beds — from the body cooling fans to the amazing tan they receive,” Ellenwood said. 

The salon is operated using software designed by Helios LLC, a sister company to ETS Tan that is a leader in providing tanning salon management and customer data software, and carries skin products and lotions by Australian Gold, Swedish Beauty and Designer Skin, also sister companies of ETS Tan. 

Ellenwood said there is more to the tanning industry than just selling tanning sessions. “The tanning industry is fun, fast-paced and demands excellent customer service,” Ellenwood said. “We wanted to join the tanning industry to work together as a team to teach clients that the ‘tanning experience’ is also about Smart Tan practices and taking care of your skin and body — not just selling the clients time in a bed.” 

Customers can also take advantage of convenient tanning hours. Mocha Tan is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday. 

“We have been overwhelmed by the support of our local Norfolk businesses and all of the clients who have joined the Mocha Tan family so far,” Ellenwood said. “We appreciate everything they have done. Our goal is to get the salon up and running and then give back to the community through fundraisers and just being involved in the community as much as possible.”
